THE MORNING AFTER the storm passed over. How it looks like in front of the house.
Despite the howling winds and pounding rains, we decided to push our way to Zambales last weekend. Never mind the typhoon. The trip had long been planned and Papa Joel's birthday was what really mattered to us. There's no putting it off!

Buffet "guardians".

TULOY ANG BIRTHDAY!!!
We weren't able to catch the 8PM bus and the next available tickets were for the 11:30PM trip, so we had to stay put in the terminal for a couple of hours more. We cannot even afford to go to the mall which is just walking distance from the terminal because of the heavy rains. The night trip was swift though, as we were able to make it to Iba in four hours' time; a far cry from the normal day trip which drives for about six hours max because of the stopovers. But by the time we reached the Abrigo home from the bus stop, we were all soaking wet.
Then again, the downpour did not stop Papa's birthday
lechon from coming out of the
pugon (oven)! Even when the gusty winds uprooted three huge mango trees around the house and the
gasera (gas lamp) was the only light source (power was off the whole time) we had, relatives and friends came to celebrate the day with the whole family. Too bad for some guests, the videoke machine does not run in kerosene. Hehehe.
Mind you, the province was hard-hit by the storm big time (signal no. 3!). We're grateful that not one of us got hurt nor ended up homeless. We're grateful too that buses for Manila came on by Sunday afternoon.
